In early 2010, Mochi and I met in a pet store window — him on the inside and me on the outside. He was alone in a little 4x3ish cubicle, and I couldn’t stand the fact he was all by himself. An adorable auburn fluffball, I thought for sure he’d have a home soon. I often purchased cat food at this store, so when I saw him again on another trip, I told my daughter if he was in that window another week, I was bringing him home. My girls brought him home to me instead, and Mochi and I were best of friends for 13 years. He was such a good-natured, sweet, joyful, dog. I was very blessed to have him in my life, and it was an honor to give him a great dog-life here, too. Mochi left us on June 7, 2023, to return to the Kingdom of Animals. It was so good to have him at home and to be right next to him in those last moments. I wish that for everyone. He runs free now — no harnesses, no leashes — lots of grass and wildflowers, and a heart full of love.
